Day to Day:

An employer is seeking a Principal System Engineer to sit in Jersey City, NJ. Daily responsibilities will include supporting the engineering, governance and operation for a strategic platform to support IaaS offering across multiple data centers. As a System Engineer developer on this team, the candidate would use agile methodology to develop features on Python 3.x and Django web framework.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Research and implement new features for the platform.
2. Work with team members to architect solutions to support evolving infrastructure and application needs.
3. Configure, tune and test key platform components. Optimize runtime and security profiles.
4. Delve into platform technologies (Ansible, Terraform, Vault, etc.), using or configuring in order to support the platform's goals
5. Investigate performance or reliability issues, debug and resolve production issues.
6. Work with compute hosting teams to ensure platform requirements are understood for application and platform services
7. Develop run-books and documentation
